NOT Partakers of SIN [2844] Matthew 23:29-31 (Jesus' discourse begins in Vs. 2) "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the secpulchres of the righteous, (30)And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. (31)Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the propets." [4790] 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelivers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness (15)And what concord hath Christ with Belian? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? (16)And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people, (17)Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, (18)And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." [2841] 1 Timothy 5:22 (Elder appointment) "Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure." [2841] 2 John 1:9-11 "(9) Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the father and the son. (10)If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: (11)For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. [2844] 1 Corinthians 10:16-21 [3348] "(16)The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? (17)For we being many are one bread; and one body; for we are all partakers of that one bread. (18)Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? (19)"What say I then? That the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? (20)But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. (21)Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils." [4790] Ephesians 5:1-12 "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; (2)And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. (3)But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; (4)Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient; but rather giving of thanks. (5)For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, not covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (6)Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. (7)Be not ye therefore partakers with them. (8)For ye were sometimes darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord; walk as children of light: (9)(For the fruit of the spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) (10)Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. (11)And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. (12)For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret." _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
II. Partakers of Suffering [4789] Romans 8:16-18 "The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (17)And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (18)For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." [4790] 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 "(3)Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; (4)Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted by Christ. (5)For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. (6)And whether we be afflicted, it is for you consolation and salvation; which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. (7)And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation." [2842] Philippians 3:8-11 "Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, (9)And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: (10)That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being make conformable unto his death; (11)If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead." [2844] Hebrews 10:32-34 "(32)But call to rememberance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; (33)Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used. (34)For ye had compassion on me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance." [2841] 1 Peter 4:12-16 "(12)Beloved, think not it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: (13)But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. (14)If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. (15)But let none of you suffer as an murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. (16)Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf." [4791] Revelation 1:9 "I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God."
III. Partakers in Doctrine (See also 2 John 7-9; Romans 6:17) [2842] Acts 2:41-42 "They they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. (42)And they continued steadfastly in the\ Apostle's doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." [2842] 1 Corinthians 1:9-10 "God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his son Jesus Christ our Lord. (10)Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you: but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement." [2842] Philippians 2:1-2 "If there be any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the spirit, if any bowels and mercies, (2)fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind."
IV. Partakers in EVANGELISM/GOSPEL [3348] 1 Corinthians 9:9-12 (Financial support of preachers is authorized) "(9)For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth not God take care for oxen? (10)Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (11)If we have sown unto you spriritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? (12)If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ." [2842] Galatians 2:9 "And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision." [2842] Philippians 1:3-5 "I thank my God upon every remembrence of you; (4)Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, (5)for your fellowship in the gospel from the first\ day until now. [4791] Philippians 1:7 "Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace." [4790] Philippians 4:13-15 "I can do all things through Christ which strentheneth me (14)Notwithstanding, ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. (15)Now ye Philippians know " [2841] also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macdonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only."
V. Partakers in HELPING BRETHREN [2841] Romans 12:9-13 "(9)Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. (10)Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; (11)Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; (12)Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; (13)Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality." [2842] Romans 15:25-27 "(25)But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister to the saints. (26)For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem. (27)It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles [2841] have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things." [2842] 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 "(1)Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; (2)How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. (3)For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves: (4)Praying us with much intreaty that we would reveive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. (5)And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God." [2842] 2 Corinthians 9:13 (Read 1-15) "Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men.
VI. Partakers in the INHEIRTANCE [2842] Ephesians 3:6 "That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:" [4789] 1 Peter 3:7 "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered."
VII. Partakers IN CHRIST [4791] Romans 11:16-18 "For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. (17)And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, (18)Boast not against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you." [2842] 1 Corinthians 10:16 "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?" [3348] 1 Corinthians 10:17 "For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread." [2844] 1 Corinthians 10:18 "Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?" [2841] Hebrews 2:14 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;" [2844] 2 Peter 1:4 "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." [2842] 1 John 1:1-10 "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life; (2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us:) (3)That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also my have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. (4)And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. (5)This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. (6)If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth: (7)But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sin. (8)If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9)If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10)If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." INVITATION
